1977:  JIMMY CARTER WAS INAUGURATED THE 39TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, FLEETWOOD MAC RELEASED THEIR RUMOURS ALBUM (WHICH WENT ON TO SELL 40 MILLION COPIES, THE ATARI GAMING SYSTEM WAS RELEASED, ELVIS PERFORMED IN HIS LAST CONCERT AND GM ANNOUNCED ITS 500,000 CORVETTE BUILT AND DROPPED THE NAME “STINGRAY”.

THE 1977 CORVETTE SAW ITS ENGINE COLOR CHANGED TO BLUE WITH NEW CROSSED FLAGS BADGES FRONT & BACK, THE INSTRUMENTS WERE REDESIGNED FOR BETTER CLARITY AND A NEW LEATHER WRAPPED STEERING WHEEL WAS OFFERED. POWER STEERING BECAME STANDARD, ALTHOUGH THIS IS A MUCH COOLER ORIGINAL 8-TRACK PLAYER CAR, A CASSETTE PLAYER WAS NOW OFFERED, THE MANUAL SHIFTER GREW AN INCH BUT SHIFTS WERE SHORTER. 1997 WAS ALSO THE LAST YEAR OF THE SHORT REAR WINDOW C3’S.  THERE WERE 49,213 CORVETTES PRODUCED IN 1977.  OF THOSE 6,148 HAD THE L82 ENGINE BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, ONLY 2,060 CAME WITH THE M21 4 SPEED.  NOW, COMBINE THE L82 AND THE 4-SPEED AND YOU’RE DOWN TO ABOUT 1,500 CARS, SO WE’RE LOOKING AT SOMETHING LIKE 3-TO 5% OF THE TOTAL PRODUCTION Read more

I RECENTLY DROVE THIS CAR 450 MILES AND CONSUMED 2.5 TANK-FULL’S OF FUEL WHILE DRIVING MOSTLY HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON CALIFORNIA’S I5. CAR PASSED CA SMOG INSPECTION IN 2015 AND AGAIN ON SEPT 18TH OF THIS YEAR.

CAR IS 100% STOCK RIGHT DOWN TO ITS ORIGINAL AM/FM 8-TRACK STEREO AND FACTORY ORIGINAL DARK BLUE LACQUER PAINT THAT STILL SHOWS AND SHINES BEAUTIFULLY, MAKES THE CAR POP WITH ITS ALL-ORIGINAL AND FLAWLESS BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR WHICH STILL HAS THE ONE YEAR ONLY FACTORY FLOOR MATS. FLAWLESS ORIGINAL ALUMINUM WHEELS WITH RAISED WHITE LETTER TIRES SET OFF ONE OF THE COOLEST PROFILES & STANCE I’VE SEEN IN A C3 CORVETTE.

I ONLY HAD THE CAR REPAINTED AFTER MANY SLEEPLESS NIGHTS CONTEMPLATING IT. THIS Z28 IS A CONVERSATION PIECE.  CAR BELONGED TO A LITTLE OLD LADY NAMED DORIS IN COLORADO WHO PURCHASED IT NEW
AT SPEDDING CHEVROLET IN DENVER. THE CAR WAS HER TOY, NOT A DAILY DRIVER SO IT WAS GARAGED AND DRIVEN INFREQUENTLY ONLY ON NICE DAYS.

TO GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE, THE REGISTRATION FROM 1987 SHOWS THAT THE CAR HAD 26261 MILES AND IN 1991 IT HAD 26700 WHICH PROVES HOW LITTLE SHE DROVE IT UNTIL SHE FINALLY STOPPED DRIVING IT IN 1992.  THERE IS NO RUST ANYWHERE ON THIS CAR.  THIS Z28 DESERVES TO BE PRESERVED IN A TRUE CAMARO ENTHUSIAST COLLECTION.
